We support the Karambi School in Northern Uganda’s Karamoja region. The school presently boasts 30 attending students and our primary goal is to increase this amount. Afro Fadderforening collaborates with Jude Kagoro, our Ugandan co-ordinator. Regular classroom visits give us the opportunity to see how happy the children are and how well they are excelling in their education.
With microfinance in place, we have had the good fortune to provide the school with solar panels to generate electricity, and the teachers with computers.
Having a fundraising event in norway for higher education in Uganda This is Jennifer that runs a shop in Port Fortal, Uganda. We give her a start package when she got started a year ago and she is doing well Even in the Corona time. Getting our children thro' higher education in Uganda is becoming increasing challenging as fees are increased ever year.
Jude'sFarm taking shape. We built up the farm over a period of 5 years. We have also opened up the place to tourist to enjoy this beautifull part of Uganda. Gaberole is surrounded by mount Rwenzori and its a dairy farm with some Ankole cows and other animals that is ONLY indigenous to Uganda and Rewanda. Do visit Uganda after covid.
The projects at Karambi school are sponsored through fundraising events by volunteers. We have successfully built a library, installed electricity for teachers and supplied the school with computers.
Continuing with our projects, we continue to strive each day. Currently we are builing accommodation for teachers with electricty and a new kitchen. The vegetables grown at Karambi School will help feed teachers and pupils throughout the year.
Farming is hard work but the ladies in Uganda do a great job at looking after the crops and animals. Our recent project has been focused on pigs along with building a structure for them. We have invested in cows and continue to work hard on dairy farming with cows and goats. Our future goals are to start a gardening project and provide meals for an estimate of 400 children.
We invest in farming and that brings people out of poverty . Many families have managed to make a living for themselves. We also use micro finance. This has proven to be very successfull. By producing food also helps the community and helps with food security in the country.
The Leadership of the group we work with in Uganda play an important role for Afrofadderforening, most have worked with us for 14 years and we appreciate all their help and support they give for our organisation.
